Dr. Bryant earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from Duke University and completed her postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical Center’s Victims of Violence Program. She is a tenured professor of psychology at Pepperdine University, where she directs the Culture and Trauma Research Laboratory.
A nationally recognized leader in the field of psychology, Dr. Bryant served as President of the American Psychological Association in 2023. She has also served as President of the Society for the Psychology of Women and as an APA representative to the United Nations.
Dr. Bryant is the author of several transformative books, including Matters of the Heart, Homecoming: Overcome Fear and Trauma to Reclaim Your Whole, Authentic Self, and The Homecoming Workbook. She is also the host of the Homecoming podcast, where she encourages listeners to heal from past wounds, reconnect with their authentic selves, and move toward greater wholeness.
Her groundbreaking contributions to psychology, advocacy, and healing have earned numerous honors, including the Silverman Lifetime Achievement Award for Social Justice and Psychology. Through her scholarship, ministry, writing, and public leadership, Dr. Bryant continues to inspire people to pursue healing, embrace their God-given worth, and live with greater freedom and purpose.
